Chevron Nails & Ombre with Nail Tape Tutorial

Hi everyone!!!
It has been a while since I have posted on my blog, it was my birthday on Saturday :) so today I will share 2 tutorials. Chevron nails and an ombré mani with nail art tape. Both tutorials are fun and easy to create. I hope these tutorials will inspire you to have a go and create your own nail art designs.

Chevron Nails

Chevron patterns are very popular when it comes to nail art designs. They are very easy to create and can be used with any colour combination. For this tutorial I decided to paint black chevrons on a white background and the rest of my nails turquoise.

First apply a base coat to protect your nail then apply two coats of white nail varnish, using a dotting tool (or a toothpick) dipped in black nail polish, paint dots in a zig zag pattern.
Connect the dots with your dotting tool to create to the chevron, go back and thicken the lines.
Repeat the pattern on the rest of your nail, add a top coat to protect your design.

As I said before you can paint this design with any colours you like. I decided to paint the rest of my nails turquoise  (Maybelline Colour Show - Urban turquoise.) then applied graffiti polish for my mani.

Ombré & Nail Tape Tutorial

The second nail art design uses 2 easy nail art techniques when put together creates an amazing look.
It is very easy to do and it make you nails look like they have been done by a professional.
You also don't have to worry about breaking the bank for this design, you can use everyday objects around the home to help you with this mani.

The Ombré Effect

First choose 2 colours you wish to blend.
Make sure you pick colours that will be
able to blend easily. For this tutorial I
chose Sally Hansen - Good to Grape and
Barry M - Pastel Pink.

First apply a base coat to protect your nail and add two coats of white nail varnish.
Paint a thick line of your first colour on a make up sponge.
While it is wet paint another thick line with your second colour. (You can use tissues instead of sponges if you do not own any make up sponges)
Quickly dab the sponge over your nail, slightly moving up and down to mix the colours.
Once you have finished clean your the sides of your nail with a cotton bud and nail varnish remover.
Add a top coat to help the colours blend.

Nail Art Tape

You can decide to finish your design with just the ombré effect or you can modify your nail art with nail art tape.

Once your nails are dry place the tape on your nail as your chosen pattern.
Apply another coat of nail varnish over the tape - I chose Barry M Metalic Effects, silver.
While the paint is wet gently peal the tape off your nail.
Finish with a top coat to seal your design.

I really enjoyed creating these designs and I hope I have inspired you to create your own nail art. If you have any questions or suggestions for other nail art tutorials please leave a comment below.

Daisy Nails

This nail art design is very simple to recreate and it gives your nails a summer look which is especially needed at this time of the year. The multi coloured stripes add variety to the manicure and if you choose to you can use this tutorial to inspire you to create many other flower designs of your own.

Painting the Daisy pattern is very simple, all you need is a dotting tool. If you do not own a dotting tool you can use the nib of a brio or a toothpick.

First apply a clear base coat to protect your natural nails, then paint your nail with your chosen background colour. For this design I used pastel colours to create the summer feeling. Using your dotting tool dipped in white nail varnish paint 5 dots to create the petals. For the centre of the flower add a yellow dot using your dotting tool. Once dry apply a top coat to seal your design.

To add variety to your manicure you can paint a stripe pattern on your accent nail. Again it is very easy to do, all you need in a thin brush and nail varnish.

First apply a clear base coat to protect your natural nail, then paint your nail with your chosen pastel colour. Using a thin brush and white nail varnish paint 3 lines up to two thirds of your nail. Repeat this step several times with other pastel colours. Once dry apply a top coat to seal your design and if you have made some mistakes the top coat makes the colours blend therefore covering your mistakes.

I really like this design it is very easy to do and the little daisy pattern makes your nails look really cute! As a nail artist the skill to creating flowers is a must have. If you are not a fan of painting your nails you could use gem stones instead.

I hope I have inspired you to try out your own flower nail art designs and I would love to see your own recreations. Please comment if you have any questions and you can follow me on Instagram @queenrock75 for other nail art manicures.

Furry Pussy Cat Tutorial

Cats are one of my favourite animals, at the moment I have 4 :) This nail art involves using flocking powder to create a cute furry black cat on your nails and some other design suggestions you can use for the rest of the manicure. For this tutorial I used black
and white nail varnish to make the nail art stand out but you can always use different colours instead.

After applying a base coat to protect your nail, paint 2 coats of white nail varnish

Using black nail varnish, paint a large circle at the top of your nail

Paint a smaller circle at the top of the bigger circle with a dotting tool and paint 2 small ears with a toothpick. I had a small dotting tool so I used that instead.

Use your toothpick to paint a curved line at the side of the body to create the tail. Quickly move your toothpick up and down in a 'stippling motion' this way it is easier to control

While the nail varnish is wet dip your nail into your pot of flocking powder. Press your nail firmly and brush away the extra powder. As a result you will have a little black furry cat :)

You can repeat the process on the rest of your nails or to add variety to your nails you could paint fish skeletons and paw prints. See tutorials below.

Using your toothpick draw a black triangle and a straight line with an arrow, paint three lines
in the middle to complete the fish skeleton. Apply a top coat to seal your design

First paint an irregular circle on your nail, then paint 3 smaller circles to complete
the paw print. Apply a top coat to seal your design

If you do not own any dotting tools a toothpick or the tip of a pen works just as effectively. Flocking powder is also not expensive if you shop around you will find it at a good price, I found my flocking powder for just £1.

This design can be re created in various ways. There are other types of cats you could paint on your nails. How about a ginger cat? You could paint a cat using orange nail varnish and add white stripes with a blue background.

Leopard Heart Print Tutorial

Valentines Day is near and this
Leopard Heart manicure is a great way to show off your sexy and wild side.

First apply a basecoat to protect your nail, once it is dry paint 2 coats of pink nail varnish

Using a dotting tool and red nail varnish paint 2 dots close together

Slowly drag down and paint a point to complete the heart

Paint irregular dots on the rest of the nail

Paint 'C' shapes around the heart and dots with a dotting tool and black nail varnish to complete the leopard print. Apply a top coat to seal your design

Paint the leopard print on the side and top of your other nails

This is one of my favourite nail art designs
and it makes your nails look amazing. This design is very easy to paint and it will leave your nails looking sexy and wild for Valentines Day.

My First Tutorial - Rainbow Spirals

Here it is my first nail art tutorial - Rainbow Spirals :)

Step 1 - First apply a base coat to protect your nails.

Step 2 - Paint each of your nails with red, yellow, green, blue and purple nail varnish.

Step 3 - Paint a dot at the centre of your nail, this will be your guide.

Step 4 - Using a black stripper draw two curved lines, repeat three more times to create a propeller on your nail. If you do not have a stripper you can use a thin brush dipped in black nail varnish.

Step 5 - Paint a black curved line in between each propeller.

Step 6 - Finish your nail with a top coat or quickly add a gem in the middle of the nail before the top coat dries.

Here is the finished result :)

I am very pleased with this design. It is colourful and very effective, I can't stop staring at my own nails!!! The best part is that it is very simple to make.
Please have a go yourself and I would love to see your re creations.
